Home euthanasia

For when the time comes, I offer home euthanasia for pet poultry.

Home euthanasia reduces some of the stress for you and your bird. It allows your bird to remain in their home environment, and you can stay with your bird through out (should you choose to). Home euthanasia means your sick bird will avoid the stress of a car journey to a veterinary clinic, and the stress of a noisy waiting room. It also allows you the time to say goodbye without feeling rushed.

I use a simple two step process which involves sedation, followed by a final injection. The process takes a little longer while the sedation takes effect, but this allows your bird to relax and be comforted by you while they gently drift off to sleep.

After care

I can arrange for your bird to be cremated at Companions Haven crematorium in Pucklechurch (I’ve used them for my own dogs!) They are a family owned, small business and I can vouch for their professionalism and care throughout.

Communal cremation - there’s no return of ashes, but your bird would be scattered in the rose garden.

Individual cremation - your pet would be individually cremated and the ashes returned to you in a scatter box.

Pet poultry and the law - Sadly, pet poultry are regarded by law as food producing animals (livestock). This means that legally they can not be buried at home.
